WHY
Why come at all?
There are so many reasons people come to therapy. Often it is a feeling something is missing, or a sense that you would like things to change, to feel different in yourself or a situation. Perhaps moving home, or going on holiday or changing your job has not had the desired outcome. The same feelings return again and again.
It might be health concerns, identity issues, marriage/relationship issues, anxiety, bereavement, financial trauma, lacking motivation, parenting, recent or old trauma, social anxiety, addiction, cultural issues, racism, sexism, sexual dysfunction, ageing, or a more complex mental health diagnosis. My training and experience was rigorous and allows me to work with all of the above and much more.
I cannot count the number of clients I hear who tell me that they are concerned that their issues are not ‘big enough’ for therapy. However, your reasons for coming are valid, unique and important - I look forward to welcoming you.
Why Now?
Emotional Readiness: therapy requires honesty, vulnerability, and a willingness to reflect
Motivation and Commitment: real change takes time. If someone is motivated and open to working on themselves (even if they’re struggling), they’re more likely to benefit from the process
Life Circumstances: sometimes practical issues such as time, finances or big life transitions can impact whether therapy is accessible or sustainable
