FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

  • I understand that therapy is a financial commitment, and it’s important to know what you're investing in. My fee of £90 reflects the depth of training and experience I bring to our work together. I trained for over four years to qualify as a psychotherapist, which included over 450 supervised clinical hours and 200 hours of personal therapy. This wasn’t just academic—it was an immersive, rigorous process designed to ensure I can support clients safely and effectively.

Beyond the hour we spend together, each session involves preparation, ongoing professional supervision, and time for thoughtful reflection. Therapy isn’t simply a conversation—it’s a process that requires emotional presence, skill, and sustained mental energy. To work ethically and offer high-quality care, I limit the number of clients I see, which also allows me to be fully present and engaged with each person I work with.

I’m aware that £90 may not be accessible for everyone, especially in the current economic climate, which is why I offer a limited number of concessionary spaces. I’ve thought carefully about my fee, and it reflects both the value of the work and my commitment to offering a safe, thoughtful, and professional therapeutic space.

  • The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, your background, and what you hope to achieve. You don’t need to prepare anything—it’s a gentle conversation designed to help us see whether working together feels like the right fit. Many clients find that even having this initial space to talk brings relief.

  • Yes, I ask clients to attend weekly where possible. Regular attendance helps build trust, safety, and consistency in our relationship, which is essential for meaningful therapeutic work. It’s not just about turning up each week—it’s about creating a rhythm that supports change and growth.

  • Yes. Confidentiality is at the heart of therapy. What you share with me stays between us, with a few rare exceptions for safety reasons (such as if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others). I’ll explain these limits clearly at the start so you always know where you stand.

  • There’s no single answer to this it depends on your needs and goals. Some people come for a few months to work through a specific issue, while others stay longer to explore patterns, relationships, or deeper life experiences. We’ll review our work together regularly so you feel supported in deciding what’s right for you.

  • Navigating the therapy world in the UK can be confusing, especially when it comes to understanding a therapist’s qualifications. Proper training takes years and includes clinical hours, personal therapy, and ethical study. Unfortunately, some people present themselves as therapists after only brief or informal training.

Because therapy isn't tightly regulated, it's important to check for membership with professional bodies like BACP, UKCP, or NCPS. Most qualified therapists offer a free call so you can assess whether you feel safe and supported.

On my website, I clearly outline my training and experience so you can make an informed, confident choice that feels right for you.
